July minutes7/27/2025 The Maplewood Grange #662 general JULY meeting was called to order on July 27, 2025 downstairs at 3:40pm by Master/President, Dan Keeley with the “Opening of the Grange” reading.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. PROPOSALS for MEMBERSHIP (Dan Keeley) – none WELCOME CEREMONY (Dan Keeley) – none MINUTES (Secretary, Betty Chipps): May 25, 2025 Grange Meeting Minutes - not yet emailed.. SECRETARY’S REPORT (Betty Chipps): The 2025 2nd Quarter (dues) Report ending JUNE 30, 2025 reflects a credit due Maplewood Grange in the amount of $(2.82), which will be carried over to the 3rd Quarter report. The Q2-2025 Quarterly (Dues) Report - status below: NOTE: Eff. 1/1/24, individual Membership Dues increased from $45 to $50 annually, Grange remits quarterly to OSG an amount of $12.50/per member.
Motion to mail 2nd Quarter Report reflecting credit of ($2.82) - credit carried forward to Q3. COMMUNICATIONS (Betty Chipps, Secretary) Goodie Basket Raffle (50) tickets purchased by Maplewood Grange, were delivered to the Oregon State Convention on on June 22, 2025. Note: We did NOT win the Basket, however we did aid the OSG Youth Travel Fund. The 990-N e-postcard filing for renewing Maplewood Non-proit status wasl mailed on July 29th and accompanied the Q2-Quarterly (dues) Report mailed to OSG. COMMITTEE REPORTS HALL REPORT (Dan Keeley) 8 party rentals scheduled. Chaps and Zumba still have long term contracts. HALL PROJECTS - in priority order (Dan Keeley) Yard light Couple of dining room benches getting very wobbly Remove old meter base and patch roof Insulate crawl space under bathrooms (1/2 done) Northeast side roof needs additional screws Kitchen counters need refinished Kitchen needs exhaust hood and fan Repainting under eaves of hall Kitchen and dining hall floors need refinished – in progress. AGRICULTURE (Dan Keeley) – No report. Don Sether reports grass seed way down on price and yield real low. COMMUNITY SERVICE (JoAnn Keeley) – Continue with clothing donations to Veterans Village. DEAF and BLIND (Roberta Elders) – Field trip on May 31st: good job on showing the facility and training of the dog(s). EDUCATION (Don Sether) – One teacher is demanding undisciplined student reform. Molalla area having problems with parents. LEGISLATIVE (Dan Keeley) – State proposed new rate with reference to fruit /farm stands - Dan talked with Sonny.. State Grange fired off a letter to the Legislative Committee and Mark Noah at State Grange. SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE (JoAnn Keeley) – Shall continue with Backpack Buddies and will revisit in September. TREASURER’S REPORT (Vicki Pounds) The Treasurer’s Report for the July 2025 Maplewood Grange meeting was emailed 7/24/2025. . The opening balance, as of 05/23/2025 was $17,293.62. There was no June meeting, thus the ending balance on July 24, 2025 was $12,488.43 Note: Greatest expenditure was the Grange Improvement Project (basement floor) for $5,423.50. UNFINISHED BUSINESS (Dan Keeley) 1, Basement floor furniture move-out 2:00pm (Per July 23 email: relocate outside-using ramp). Basement floor grind and seal - Scheduled for July 28 and 29. Rental on August 9. Restore furniture when? 2. Chaps (squared dance club that uses our hall) are going to have two free square dance lessons (Sept 14 and 21). A direct mail campaign is being organized to promote the lessons. Do we want to add a Maplewood open house to their events and to the mailer? If so, when? Cost would be $100 - $200 if we participate in the mailer. Recent promotional results have been poor but maybe the combination would be more successful? Discussion: Open House could be 9/21 at 4:00pm with snacks. Dan volunteered home-made Cookies with lemonade. Can serve other light refreshments too. . Can borrow Corn-Hole game (with bean bags) from OSG, and perhaps other yard games. Note: Direct Mailers are distributed 8/19, 8/25 and 9/1 (to over 370 households) and state: Casual attire, no partner required and no experience needed. Vicki moved to provide $100 Contribution to Chaps & Petticoats. 3. The Hubbard Hop Festival booth on July 19th was modestly successful getting our name out. No prospective members. Thanks to Betty and Roberta who helped and talked to people. 4. Clackamas County Fair - Maplewood display Booth … meet at Grange after this meeting! 5. Pomona Cookie fundraiser at Clackamas County Fair. Who would like to do a shift? Do we want to do it together? Volunteer shifts are: Open 9-10am, 10-1, 1-4,pm, 4-7 , 7-10, and Close. Captains (below) need 4 crew each shift: Jennie Force, captain on August 12 Pam Furlan, captain, on August 13 Dan Keeley is captain on August 14. (1-4pm shirt is full, all others need volunteers) Georgene Barragan on August 15 Joyce Parker, Captain on August 16 (last day of Fair) Ask Dan about Trivia Games volunteers needed during Fair.
